 Tapping the Berkshires
PRESS RELEASE

The co-owners and master brewers of Pittsfield Brew Works will be expanding their brewing operations this summer. Bill and Christine Heaton will be moving their brewing operation to a new location, in Pittsfield, to produce beer for retail sales. The increase in production will enable them to provide beer to restaurants, taverns, and package stores throughout the Berkshires. This has been the couples dream culminating their over 15 years in the brewing industry.

We will solely be a production brewery, which will allow us to fully devote our resources to creating the best beer possible. The overwhelmingly positive response we've received since our inception makes us very happy to be brewing in a region where people love great beer. We will be producing many of the same styles and brands that were available at Pittsfield Brew Works, but we will be selling the beer under the name of Bump’s Brewing. Bump is Christine’s maiden name. Now our loyal customers will be able the get a Legacy I.P.A. or a Gerry Dog Stout at almost all their favorite restaurants, package shops, theatres, and other venues in Berkshire County.

Our current lease on Depot Street is up this spring and we have opted not to renew our lease. We will concentrate solely on brewing beer for Berkshire County. Owning and running the Brew Works has been an awesome experience. We’ve made some great friends with our loyal customers and we are very proud of our staff that has allowed us to have such a good quality restaurant with great beer for 5 years. During this time we brewed 365 batches of beer in over 50 different styles. Many of these brews included local ingredients such as maple syrup, wildflower honey, apple cider, local wild hops, and berries. If you add it all up, we produced over 452,600 pints of beer. Our journey in brewing is just beginning!

Bump’s Brewing will be open before late summer. ( the permitting process takes time with the Feds and the state) We will have weekly tours, tastings, and of course will also feature an in-house retail shop where you will be able to purchase all of our beer, sweet schwag and have growlers, six packs, cases, and kegs filled on-site.

We will continue our legacy of community stewardship with our donations of time, energy, and money to many local organizations. As our newest project progresses, we will keep our fans posted via the web, Facebook, email, and old fashioned word of mouth.

Pittsfield Brew Works will close Friday May 14, 2010. Anyone with Gift Cards to the restaurant should use them before May 14th as they will not be valid after this date. Customers will be able to use Pittsfield Brew Works Gift Cards at the retail shop at Bump’s Brewing Company.
